Dear Accessibility Experts,

I am writing to seek your expertise on accessibility testing in the Ubuntu
environment. I am particularly interested in following topics:

1.

1. Is the Accessibility Tools such as CCA, Axe Axe etc available for the
Ubuntu environment?
2.

2. Does Ubuntu fully support ARIA roles and attributes?
3.

3. Are there any better recommended screen readers than Orca ,to perform
Screen reader Testing.
4.

4. Which browser would you recommend for conducting accessibility
testing in the Ubuntu environment?

Additionally, if anyone has experience with accessibility testing on Ubuntu
Linux, I would greatly appreciate your insights and any relevant reference
URLs you might have.

Please help me with your inputs.

Hi Ajeesh,

> 1. Is the Accessibility Tools such as CCA, Axe Axe etc available for the Ubuntu environment?

Browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox work on the versions of Chrome/Chromium and Firefox packaged in the Ubuntu repositories or the Snap store.

> 2. Does Ubuntu fully support ARIA roles and attributes?

Like any operating system, this depends on the browser and accessibility tools you use. If a browser supports them on another operating system, it also almost certainly supports it on Ubuntu.

> 3. Are there any better recommended screen readers than Orca to perform Screen reader Testing.

No; Orca is pretty much _the_ Linux screen reader. You can install better voices, though (See Orca's documentation for that; it's probably under "mbrola").

> 4. Which browser would you recommend for conducting accessibility testing in the Ubuntu environment?

I'd use a mix of browsers, like on any other operating system. I'd try to test it again Blink (Chromium), Geko (Firefox), and WebKit (MacOS / Safari) browsers. For WebKit I'd recommend GNOME Web.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,
