Hello -

My colleagues and I are wondering about the accessibility of Google Sheets. Does anyone have thoughts?

As far as we can tell, there is not an option to designate row and column headers the way you can in Microsoft.

There is the option to turn on the Screen Reader Support in Tools.

Thanks for any perspective!

Yes, Google sheets is accessible.
If you press alt shift and the letter a
It brings up the accessibility menu. I believe you arrow down once an arrow to the right and then you can define the row headers and the column headers.
The only drawback is you will have to do it every time you open a spreadsheet it does not save the settings.

Hi,
There is also how Sheets renders when read by screen readers. In my limited experience, with accessibility settings turned on, I can do well using Sheets. I seem to have more success using them with Firefox on PC when I use JAWS than I do using Chrome with JAWS. I can try with NVDA and report back if you like.

Thanks.

Jim

Turning on screen reader support is also a key stroke: Control+Alt+Z, and to turn on Braille support Control+Alt+H, will get the job done.
