Hello,
I'm using Acrobat X Pro on a Mac. I was reordering tags in the Tags panel and accidentally dropped a list into a "banker's box" container of a list item. Even though I didn't save the document, this change seemed to be permanent because the list didn't appear in the tree structure when I re-opened the document. The text of the list appears to be tagged when I look at the Content panel, but I'm not able to create the tags from the content if I'm in the Tags panel. Is there some way of getting the list and its items to reappear in the Tags panel?
Thanks,
Anne

Select one of the list items, go to the Tags Panel and just above the Tags Tree there is an Options button. Click on that and choose Find Tag from Selection. It should open the Tag where your list is buried.

It says the selection was not found (and yet I can see it in the Content panel).

So you did delete the Tags so will have to retag it. What does it look like on the Order Panel?

The list is tagged, if that's what you mean...?

Yes, if it is, you should be able to use find Tag from selection. If you can't find the Text/Tag from selection, it shouldn't be tagged.
Can you share the file? If so, send it to me off list.

This is a common issue in Acrobat. I've seen other ways of dealing with
this, but here's the method I used to solve it.
First find the LI where it should be. If you don't know where it is, select
some text around it in the PDF and choose "Find text from selection." This
should give you the area it's in. Highlight the LBody tag where the content
should be. Select the text in question. The LBody tag will change from a
highlighted blue to a gray highlight. Right click the gray highlighted
LBody tag and choose "Create tag from selection."
Hope this helps.

Just another example of why we love PDF so much.
How many hours of work does it add to publishing a document!?

It helps to use software with a better PDF export capability. Most problems
are generally solved by using the right tools for the job. Most other
problems are solved by knowing how to set up a file correctly before you
even export to begin with. Once these are taken care of, knowing what
you're doing in Acrobat takes care of the rest.
So to answer your unhelpful question: Not much if you do it right the first
time and know what you're doing.
