I'm looking for an accessible platform to post audio recordings from the
Accessing Higher Ground conference. I could put it up on Adobe Connect but
that's not an optimal platform for accessibility and is a little bit of
overkill for MP3 files. My tests on Google Drive and Dropbox seem to
indicate Drive is more accessible, especially for playing media.
Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

I think if you put all the files and drive you might be able to create a
very simple Google sites page that would list them all that might be the
best choice

Thanks Lucy. Have you found Google Drive accessible? Have you ever tried to
play an audio recording off the platform?

With NVDA on Firefox, google drive is passable. You have to know when you
hear "table", that the table is interactive and you can use the arrow keys
to move up/down through the table.

Also, the entire row's data is read rather than letting me navigate through
each cell (filename, owner, date modified, etc). If I know the name of the
file I'm looking for, then at least the name is first so I can ignore the
rest of the information.

I'm able to play a video via google drive and it works fine. I can get to
play/pause, volume, seek, fullscreen, captions. I suspect playing an audio
should be similar.

Plus, if all the files are posted on google drive (or some file sharing
website), I have the option to download it and play the file on whatever
player I want.

I've found the player in the Google Drive to be accessible on Chrome and
Firefox using JAWS.

The problem I run into is using the Backup and Sync app that Google Drive
uses. I'm really struggling with it's UI. Sometimes it doesn't come into
focus, and when it does, it doesn't seem to be announcing all of the menu
items.

Would appreciate any thoughts and/or empathy,
David

Google sites is very accessible.
I don't know if there is an easy way of listing the files other than
putting them in a folder on a sites page, but even the sites page is pretty
good.

Thanks Brandon, et al, for your helpful feedback.

In terms of launching the videos, I plan to have a non-google-drive launch
page. That is, the audio file on the google drive will be linked to our
conference schedule page which is accessible, avoiding the need to scroll
down the google drive directory to find files.

Thanks again!

-Howard

Hello,
You can also upload the audio files to Youtube and just make a list of
links with the embedded frame at the bottom of the page. Jump focus to a
heading above the frame when the user clicks the link, or have a global
pattern of k for pause and have the videos play when the user clicks on
them. That would allow one to quickly go through the audio files without
needing to click on the link, hit play, find their place again and repeat.
Thanks,

Brandon Keith Biggs <http://brandonkeithbiggs.com/>;

Lucy,

You said in a separate email that you were able to move through the
timeline in the google player. Using NVDA and Chrome I did not find the
keystroke to do this. When I landed on the timeline and pressed the right
or left arrow it took me to the next file. Can you tell me how you moved
through the timeline?

(In response to Brandon's suggestion about YouTube - I think restricting
access on YouTube is more difficult than for drive, as far as I know.)

Thanks,
Howard

The backup and sync app is in my notification area so I hit Windows+B to
move the focus there, then arrow to the backup app and select the button to
open it. I tried a few times and the focus always goes in the app. I can
tab or arrow through the items but there is no visible focus indicator.
