Hi all, need your help on the following issue I am facing with NVDA:
I am experiencing situations where a user will navigate to a link on a page
with NVDA, but when activating the link, it actually activates the link
that the user had previously tabbed from. When used with just the keyboard
(no NVDA), tab to the link and press enter, it works as expected but works
strangely with keyboard + NVDA.

Thanks,
Anuja

When NVDA is running and you're not interacting with forms it sends a
click event instead of a keyboard event.
I don't know exactly how the page is coded to figure out why the two
events activate different links, the second might be nested inside the
first or vice versa.

Hope you have focus highlighter(
https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/focusHighlight.en.html) installed
for NVDA, through which you can see where the actual focus is when tabbed
with screen reader. I would also suggest trying out with a different screen
reader quickly to check if it's the screen reader issue.

Thanks,
sudheer

Happy to help narrow it down if you can share a webpage that reproduces the
issue.

Note that NVDA since 2019.3.1 now has focus highlighting built in under
Settings > Visual.

Hi Anuja,
A question, are you checking with a remote login or something? I assume its a latency with remote. May be by the time link fires, I think you are tabing. Hit enter a wait for sometime.
If not, you want to get buffer refreshed after loading the page if particularly on a staging surver. Press Insert f4 to do so and begin testing.
