Verification of Substantial Conformance

WebAIM, an independent authority in web accessibility, evaluated a representative sample of the Canvas Student and Canvas Teacher Mobile Applications on both iOS and Android platforms application (the frequently used aspects of Canvas’ Teacher and Student Mobile Applications were evaluated in both Student and Instructor roles. This sample includes but was not limited to general navigation, course content, grading, communication, and administration. This representative ) and found substantial conformance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1 Level A and AA. While some components may not fully conformant, barriers that pose significant barriers to users with disabilities have been addressed in the sample evaluated.

WebAIM cannot verify the conformance or accessibility of content beyond the scope of the sample, nor content changed after October 30, 2023. However, based on our interactions with the Instructure development team, WebAIM is confident in their ability and willingness to maintain substantial conformance.

Exclusions

Visual annotations, as viewable in Canvas Student and editable in Canvas Teacher, are excluded from this conformance statement based on accessibility limitations in the underlying technology.
