Check out the Trace Center's resources on Designing More Usable Computers
and Software -- http://trace.wisc.edu/world/computer_access/ -- and also
their remarks and links for general principles of universal design --
http://trace.wisc.edu/world/gen_ud.html
The UK Royal National Institute of the Blind also has some good information
for software developers at http://www.rnib.org.uk/technology/software.htm
The one thing I'd want them to know is that they should consider and build
in accessibility from the beginning, rather than trying to make things
accessible after they're nearly done.
