Not sure I would have used the term "muppets", but any any term I would've used would've had the same effect. ;p

Or maybe the reason they used display: none is simply because they just don't know about how it renders in ATs?

In other words, out of sheer ignorance (meaning, not necessarily intended).

Either way, the nice thing would be to point it out to them, no? Maybe they'll care enough to fix it.
