Hi Claudia,

There are of course, the usual voice-recognition issues of consistent
articulation, variances in voice quality due to temporary health issues
and fatigue, environmental noises, and equipment peculiarities to
overcome. But also, from an accessibility standpoint, there are speech
and sound disorders that I' guessing may make it difficult or impossible
to pass a voice biometric test. So, if that sort of test was required,
it might be a show stopper for some individuals. If such a test was an
alternative biometric for persons with other, non-vocal, disabilities it
might be a much appreciated.

James

Subject: [WebAIM] Accessible voice biometrics

I'm currently working with a large financial institution client who
wants to add voice biometrics as an additional layer of authentication
for their iPhone mobile web apps. My client has asked me to research
and identify what, if any, are areas of concern with respect to
accessibility when it comes to using voice biometrics on smartphones.

Voice biometrics is a new area for me. I'd love to hear back from
anyone with comments, suggestions, resources, etc. that might help me in
my research.

Thanks,
claudia
