Jennifer, isn't the idea under consideration because there are complex behaviors that are commonly needed, so a library would avoid each developer from having to reinvent the wheel, or in this case the calendar picker or what not?

Unfortunately the jQuery UI project has not yet included accessibility in its widgets, although they seem to plan on doing so in the future.
