In some places I have worked, people were using JAWS from 5-7 versions back. Some places people don't get funding to help buy it, so they tend to hang on to older versions. However, with NVDA I find it is the opposite, it is free, so people I know tend to upgrade to the newest version.

In my experience, it is like cars... some people can buy a new one every year, and others hold on for years, while still others take the bus!
